Best Tool Beside Your Tools March 2, 2010 J. Martinez (Santa Ana, CA USA) I am using this book to teach me terms and skills that I otherwise wouldn't know. I do have experience working on cars. This is my first year working on a hot rods at a shop. I am part of a group of guys working to build hot rods for a future club(hopefully soon). Now that I am building my own I needed to be well versed before I start to build. This is great for someone with some knowledge about cars.
Information by the bucket loads! February 7, 2010 Nicholaus B. Cunha Very good book for the beginner or professional. full of great ideas while leaving room for your own personal touches.
This is the real deal for Hot Rod roadster building September 4, 2009 Sonny (California) If you guys and girl really want to build a traditional Hot Rod this is the book for you. Lots of how to good Ideas, esp. if you like the old school look and feel. Vern Tardel is the man when it comes to flatheads and Hot Rods. This is a must have for all you traditional Gear Heads/
Great Period Correct magazine June 29, 2009 Scott H. Peterson (Salt Lake City) I thouroughly enjoyed reading this book cover to cover. Although I was hoping for a broader "traditional hot rodder" approach to building a rod, this magazine gave great depth on how to build a totally correct rod using correct parts from start to finish. Great read, I would recomend to anyone who is into hot rods.
How to Build a Traditional Ford Hot Rod April 29, 2009 William Baker (Omak, WA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found this book to contain a lot of information on how to build hot rods as I built them in the 50's & 60's. The book could go into more depth
in the area of using what parts were available in those days. I was happy to see information that goes back to old school and away from the fiberglass, mustang front ends etc. that anyone can build from kits etc. I wish there were more old school information that we were able to get from the Hot Rod magazines of the 50's/60's. Perhaps someone could re-publish the articles from the old mags so could build a true 50's/60's Ford hot Rod. This book is as close as I have found to what little information still exists.
