Good Substitute for rubber gloves July 6, 2008 Sam Yorker (Hurley, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Essentially this product utilizes the fact that rubber materials have good friction and help you open jar-lids and the like that are stuck on. For years I have been using simple dish washing rubber gloves to achieve the same results, but this product's clever design with a handle, which adds additional leverage, is very useful. I would recommend it. I would have given it a 5-star, if only they had added a locking mechanism to hold the strap in place --- you will have to hold it in place with your own fingers now.
The merchant had two or three similar products, and had shipped me a wrong one. When I complained, they were willing to either accept a return or give a discount, which was nice of them (though the responses were not that prompt, and I had to persevere --- another reason for the 4-stars).
Great little grippers January 19, 2008 Shirell I bought this pair for my neighbor for a Christmas present. I've had mine for years and would have a tough time living without it. Whenever she couldn't get a lid off and her husband wasn't available, she would call and ask if she could use my lid gripper. Everyone should have one.
There's a learning curve June 2, 2007 D. J. Leslie (Falls Church, VA United States) I find the Alltrade grip wrench absolutely i n d i s p e n s a b l e. Sure, I mostly use it for opening and closing bottles (it's great for re-closing a bottled carbonated drink!), but I have other uses for it around the house.
In response to the unfortunate souls who couldn't make it work right, and to others who might be warned off because of their inexperience: there is a short learning curve. It took me probably about half a dozen to a dozen uses before I learned to thread and cinch it right. But now that I've got it down, I can loosen and tighten anything I can get the rubber around.
Perfect for opening jars March 24, 2007 Tristan's H.O.T.(handler/owner/trainer) (Seattle) I use this wrench for opening jars and it's great. I often get food jars home and find it impossible to open them. The grip wrench is perfect and solved my problem. I've tried various jar openers and most are totally useless. The grip strap adjusts to any size and pops a lid's vacuum seal easily.
Outstanding Tool March 29, 2006 Ben Y. (Moorpark, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an outstanding tool for the right application. There are a number of times that a standard wrench is not the right tool such as for loosening and/or tightening cylindrically or asymmetrically shaped objects. I am pleased with this particular tool in particular as the strap lock mechanism is of a much better design than a similar tool sold under the Craftsman brand.
